What is Osteopathy?
It is a manual therapy, non-invasive, natural and gentle, complementary to traditional medicine. Based on a precise knowledge of physiology, anatomy and biomechanics of the human body does not use drugs and study the individual as a whole (holistic discipline). Is therefore not confined to resolve addresses the symptom but the cause of suffering, which can find its location in another area of the body than the area of pain. The osteopathic discipline is becoming more widespread thanks to the growing desire to heal without drugs or invasive treatments, with the knowledge that is not conclusive eliminate pain without acting on the cause.
What ailments can be treated?
Osteopathy not only treats diseases of the musculoskeletal and joint pain, but it is effective in many other functional disorders, postural character, visceral, psychosomatic. A list of cases, although not complete, it may be the following: neck pain, back pain, temporomandibular joint problems, arthritis, disc problems, postural problems, headaches, joint and muscle pain, post-traumatic alterations in the balance , neuralgia, chronic fatigue, sleep disturbance, anxiety and irritability, gynecological disorders, digestive disorders, diseases such as congestive otitis and sinusitis. Osteopathy is for all ages, from newborn to age child development to the elderly woman in pregnancy.
Why choose an osteopath?
Why does not cure the symptom but tries to act on the causes, with an overview of the patient, without using drugs, carrying a valuable preventive work and offering a variety of effective non-invasive treatments to complement traditional medical therapies.
Why is it important to have a global approach?
One of the basic principles of Osteopathy considers the body as a unit whose parts influence each other, a system composed of muscles, skeletal structures, internal organs, which find their link in the nerve centers of the spine: each constituent part of the person, including the psyche, is dependent on others, and ensures the proper functioning of each overall well-being. A dysfunction in one area can spread to another, and often the cause is not located where the pain occurs. It is therefore essential to a wise vision of the whole and the connections between different parts of the body, addressing the root causes of problems and not the pain that it is an expression.
How do you work the osteopath?
Osteopathy is not the therapist who heals, but its role is to remove "obstacles" to the routes of the body and allow the body by exploiting the phenomenon of self-regulation, to achieve healing. The osteopath, after a thorough analysis and after reviewing any medical records, carefully assess the patient's posture, the movement of his body, and the dysfunctions present. With a high sensitivity and manual palpation performs targeted, highlighting any limitations and alterations of the joint state of tension of the tissues being treated. Several techniques are used, all manuals: mobilization of bone structure, mobilization, visceral, cranial and fascial techniques.
